Plasma Surgical Welcomes Three Industry Veterans to Form Global Medical Leadership Team

Doctors Tippett, MacLean, and Lobontiu bring extensive clinical expertise to support adoption of PlasmaJet technology

Roswell, Georgia – July 5, 2014 – Plasma Surgical, creator of the PlasmaJet® Surgery System, an energy-based medical device designed as a safe and effective alternative to traditional electrosurgery and other instruments, is pleased to announce the addition of three clinical experts to form the Company’s first Global Medical Leadership Team. Drs. Brian Tippett, Alexandra MacLean, and Adrian Lobontiu bring clinical practice experience and surgical training along with a combined total of 40 years working at leading device companies introducing innovative products to the marketplace.

An FDA-cleared and CE-marked device for cutting, coagulation, and vaporization of soft tissue, PlasmaJet has been recognized around the world as an essential tool for procedures involving sensitive structures and delicate tissue. The Global Medical Leadership Team will provide invaluable insights as Plasma Surgical evolves from a R&D-focused technology organization to a clinically driven commercial company. The Team will engage in peer-to-peer conversations with surgeon customers and guide clinical strategies that advance appropriate adoption of the PlasmaJet system. With PlasmaJet, the Company is pioneering a multi-dimensional technology platform that allows surgeons to treat targeted tissue through no-touch, atraumatic application of pure plasma energy, addressing the underlying disease while minimizing unintended effects to the patient.

Plasma Surgical Global Medical Team:

Alexandra MacLean, MD, Vice President, Market Development: Dr. MacLean will play a key role in establishing market entry strategies, KOL development, and commercial activities to drive the adoption of the PlasmaJet across multiple specialties. Previously a practicing general, vascular and trauma surgeon, Dr. MacLean also served in multiple roles at Covidien, most recently as the Vice President of Corporate Medical Affairs, helping to lead clinical product strategies and technology assessments.

Adrian Lobontiu, MD, Senior Medical Director and General Manager, Europe: A general surgeon by background with extensive experience leading medical affairs and commercial activities at leading device companies, Dr. Lobontiuwill play a key role in supporting the cultivation of surgeon key opinion leaders and customers in Europe. Previously, Dr. Lobontiu served as a key member of the Intuitive Surgical team, helping to drive the initial adoption of the daVinci Robot by surgeons across Europe. Most recently, he served as the Chief Medical Director at EndoGastric Solutions where he was instrumental in supporting the development of the Company’s lead product in the early stages of the company and managed crucial clinical study activities globally.
