Industry veteran brings 20 years of surgical technology sales experience

Roswell, Georgia – November 1, 2014 – Plasma Surgical, creator of the PlasmaJet® Surgery System, an energy-based medical device designed as a safe and effective alternative to traditional electrosurgery and other instruments, is pleased to announce the hiring of Steve Gulick as senior vice president of North American sales and business development. An industry sales executive with 20 years of proven success, Gulick will continue to grow the current sales trajectory of the Company’s PlasmaJet system, positioning the product as a unique and versatile surgical technology suitable for multiple specialties.

With PlasmaJet, the Company is pioneering a multi-dimensional technology platform that allows surgeons to treat targeted tissue through no-touch, atraumatic application of pure plasma energy, addressing the underlying disease while minimizing unintended effects to the patient. PlasmaJet has been recognized around the world as an essential tool for procedures involving sensitive structures and delicate tissue and is used at some of the most prestigious academic and community hospitals.

“For more than 20 years I have had the privilege of introducing surgeons and other healthcare professionals to technology that allows them to provide the best care possible to their patients,” said Steve Gulick, SVP of North American sales & business development of Plasma Surgical. “As I researched and began to better understand what the PlasmaJet can do in the hands of a skilled surgeon, I become even more enthusiastic about the opportunity with the Company. The ability to expand the arsenal of tools to better patient care is exciting.”

Prior to joining Plasma Surgical, Mr. Gulick was the vice president of Sales at Berchtold, a medical equipment company that provides integrated solutions for hospital operating rooms (Berchtold was recently sold to the Stryker Corporation for nearly $200 million). Mr. Gulick managed a staff of 60 professionals in the direct sales force and operations team and helped deploy programs in international markets. Earlier in his career, Mr. Gulick led a regional sales team at Intuitive Surgical where he helped drive the adoption of the daVinci Robot as an innovative breakthrough for surgeons in multiple specialties. Today the da Vinci surgical system is the global leader in robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery.

“Steve has a strong history of successful selling approaches with hospital decision-makers and proven ability to build and manage high-performing sales teams,” said Rick Morello, president and CEO of Plasma Surgical. “Over the last few years, Plasma Surgical has been refining its approach to fully introduce the PlasmaJet to the US marketplace and Steve brings skills that are critical to our continued growth.”
