PlasmaJet offers numerous benefits to surgeons across many specialties.

  • It uses a fine stream of pure plasma, rather than an electric current, which removes the risks of burns and deep tissue damage.
  • PlasmaJet is electrically-neutral and safe to use close to electronic devices like pacemakers, defibrillators and metallic implants. It can also be used safely near sensitive tissue and anatomical landmarks like facial or spinal nerves and eyelids.
  • When applied to tissue, the high-energy stream of pure plasma rapidly creates a thin and flexible coagulation layer, preventing bleeding and lymphatic oozing.
  • No thermal diffusion occurs in surrounding tissue or fluids, so depth-of-tissue damage is minimized.
  • The dynamic effect of the plasma flow removes liquid from the wound surface, which offers surgeons visual access and the benefit of a flexible eschar layer.
  • The absence of tissue contact during coagulation eliminates risks associated with adhesion of tissue to the instrument.
  • Cuts all tissues including bone with simultaneous coagulation of the cut surfaces.

The PlasmaJet system has been cleared for marketing in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and carries the CE mark for distribution in Europe.
